– The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) is recruiting a communications professional with an innovative spirit, a positive attitude, and the ability to lead with strength and enthusiasm. The job opening is for a Director of Strategy, Communications, and Community Engagement, a new role for the agency, which was formerly the Director of Communications and Public Affairs. This position will work closely with the Executive Director as part of the Senior Leadership Team and be a key voice in the delivery of THEA’s program and projects.
 
The Director of Strategy, Communications, and Community Engagement is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining positive community relationships with community-based groups, local businesses, the public, and governmental organizations. As the primary spokesperson for the tolling agency, the ideal candidate must be effective in media relations, be able to develop and implement various communication and marketing strategies to share public information, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects transpiring simultaneously.
 
THEA seeks a visionary leader to manage, direct and coordinate the activities of the Public Affairs/Communications Department. The successful candidate will be a forward-thinking creative thinker able to provide analysis and reports to the THEA Executive Director and the THEA Board and manage advocacy and public involvement. Must be able to build a culture of trust and be a team builder capable of garnering excitement around strategic vision and agency goals. Must be able to build robust and effective working relationships with key stakeholders, governmental officials, policymakers, and media representatives to stay abreast of policy and legislative developments affecting the transportation and tolling industry.
