Duties of the Board of Directors *
A Director’s responsibility is to design and ensure the successful implementation of programs and activities which benefit the Members of the organization. They are to represent the Chamber at public and private functions, become acquainted with current and prospective members and familiarize themselves with the interests of the community.
Board of Directors Requirements *
All members of the Board shall be Members, or representatives of Members, in good standing with the Chamber prior to their appointment, and shall so remain at all times during their tenure. The Board of Directors Requirements are estimated to be a commitment to the Chamber of approximately four (4) to six (6) hours per month.
Term of Service *
Each Director shall serve a three (3) year term, with the term commencing January 1st of the year immediately following his appointment and terminating December 31st, three (3) years thereafter. The board meets monthly (10) months of the year on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. A Director who is absent from three (3) regular meetings of the Board in any twelve (12) month period may be removed from the Board by a majority vote of the Board.
Board Commitment *
I commit that if selected to the board of the South Tampa Chamber, I am able to fulfill these requirements including to attend 10 in person board meetings per year and one full-day board retreat, and to positively represent the Chamber to the best of my abilities. New board members will be required to attend (1) Chamber 101 and a New Board Orientation with in the first 90 days of your board term.
Additional Duties *
Board members may be asked to perform additional duties based on the assessed needs of the Chamber which may include, assisting with member recruitment/retention, calling or emailing with members as part of our annual retention strategy, introduction of the Chamber to potential sponsors, attend events representing the Chamber, advocate on behalf of the Chamber.
