South Tampa Chamber Announces 2024 DEI Champions

The South Tampa Chamber hosted their annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion luncheon on July 17 where three members were honored as DE&I Champions. The South Tampa Chamber Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Champion Award honors and recognizes STCOC members (a person, business or organization) for their internal-facing programs, initiatives and activities focused on improving diversity, equity and inclusion for their workplace.

New Education Scores Show Movement Towards Florida 2030 Blueprint Goals

Florida's latest 3rd and 8th-grade reading scores were recently released, reflecting progress toward our 2030-related education goals. According to TheFloridaScorecard.org, 3rd-grade reading scores increased by 5 percentage points to 55%, while 8th-grade reading scores rose 4 percentage points to 51%. Math scores were also released, showing a slight increase in 3rd-grade math proficiency to 60%, while 8th-grade math proficiency dipped by 1 percentage point to 54%.

The South Tampa Chamber’s Bridgette Bello Champion for Women Award recognizes an individual or organization that has demonstrated exceptional commitment and impact in advancing equality and empowering women.

We want to feature you for National Black Business Month

August is National Black Business Month, which highlights and appreciates the contributions of Black-owned businesses to the U.S. economy and in promoting diversity and equity. About 3% of American businesses are Black-owned, according to the Pew Research Center, and nearly 58% of Black adults believe supporting Black businesses is a highly effective way to advance equality for Black individuals in the U.S.

New Teacher School Supply Drive

School supplies can be dropped off at any chamber event in May, June, and July, or at the Chamber office Monday-Friday from 10:00am-3:00pm. Last day to drop off supplies is Friday, July 26th.
