On Wednesday, March 1, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes will host an event focused on best practices for finding, hiring, and retaining military-connected talent.
 
You'll learn how public and private sector organizations can work together to find innovative solutions to meet the workforce challenges in the Tampa area and beyond, and identify connection points for national and regional veteran and military spouse non-profits.
 
This free professional development event is hosted by USAA and is open to employer representatives (including human resources leadership, talent acquisition specialists, and hiring managers); representatives from academia, associations, and veteran service organizations; federal and state officials; and advocates.
 
All attendees are invited to stay for a networking reception that will immediately follow the working session.

The Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans’ Families (EBV-F) program at Florida State University is currently accepting applications for the Spring 2023 program.

Designed to take advantage of the skills, resources and infrastructure of higher education, the EBV-F program offers cutting-edge, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management. EBV-F is a selective and rigorous educational initiative that was created to provide a vocational path forward for military family members.

Ideal candidates for admission will possess a strong interest in entrepreneurship, have started or currently own a business, and demonstrated a high likelihood of successful completion of this intense training program.

Military Appreciation Nourish the Service - March 23 and 24
 
Join Blue Star Families to honor our service members and Veterans at our annual Military Appreciation Nourish the Service Event. We will be distributing food and hygiene items, toys, and Disney Books to 400 military families. All events are held at Hangar 5 on MacDill Air Force Base. We will be taking volunteers on a first come, first served basis. Volunteers will be performing a variety of tasks including but not limited to sorting and organizing donations, writing notes to the troops, manning stations, and assisting attendees during main event.| Military Appreciation - Nourish the Service Volunteer Form

MacDill Gate Closure – February 27-March 13
 
Due to a City of Tampa Lower Peninsula Stormwater Improvements project, both travel lanes on Bayshore Blvd between Interbay Blvd and Bayshore Gate will be closed from 27 February to 13 March. Only local resident traffic will be permitted. During this time, the Bayshore Gate will be CLOSED and base traffic will be diverted to the Dale Mabry, MacDill and Tanker Way Gates. Drivers wishing to travel north on Bayshore Blvd are directed to use MacDill Ave to Interbay Blvd or Gandy as their alternate route. Drivers wishing to travel south on Bayshore Blvd are directed to use Interbay Blvd to MacDill Ave as their alternate route.  During the morning rush Monday-Friday, base personnel are highly encouraged to enter through Dale Mabry or Tanker Way Gates to minimize congestion at the MacDill Gate.

3/18 - 1st Captain’s Cup drug-free bodybuilding competition and health expo in the country, in partnership with Battle Tampa Bay, a 501c3 organization that aims to bring the community together through sports. 4/14 - The MacDill Chief's Group 12th Annual Golf Event will be held on Friday, 14 April 2023 at MacDill Air Force Base Bay Palms Golf Course. We are looking for support from the community in the form of sponsorship opportunities. Contact info@macdillchiefsgroup.org

5/20 – The 2023 Carry The Load event that is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2023. This event is a Veteran led commemorative walk, where participants walk a designated route around the Veterans Memorial Park in Tampa, and “Carry the Load” - many carry mementos of fallen loved ones as a symbolic gesture of remembrance.
