SPECIAL EVENT: Florida Conservation and Technology Center
Join Tampa Electric Company and the South Tampa Chamber for a special behind the scenes tour of the Florida Conservation and Technology Center.
Tampa Electric is proud to lead the way in conservation and environmental innovation at our Florida Conservation and Technology Center (FCTC), a 500-acre hub near our Big Bend Power Station. It's there we provide our partners with the space they need to research, protect and educate about Florida’s unique wildlife and ecosystems.
Together with partner organizations like The Florida Aquarium, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the University of Florida and the Guy Harvey Foundation, we and our FCTC partners tackle some of Florida’s biggest environmental challenges. A focal point of these efforts is Tampa Electric’s Manatee Viewing Center, a safe haven for manatees during colder months. We work with local wildlife groups to rescue and release injured manatees back into the wild.
At FCTC, conservation and stewardship extend beyond manatees. The Florida Aquarium’s Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center and Coral Conservation Center are critical to the preservation of endangered sea turtles and the restoration of Florida’s coral reefs. The research center provides care for some of the world’s most endangered sea turtles, nursing them back to health before releasing them into the wild. The aquarium is also leading efforts to save Florida’s coral reef tract by growing and spawning endangered coral species, with globally recognized success.
