Young Baking Talent Compete in the First Season of ''The VooDoo Chef Baking & Pastry Challenge''

May 17, 2025 — The VooDoo Chef Baking & Pastry Challenge brings together young culinary talents, each competing for the prestigious Naomi Tidwell Scholarship. Under the expert guidance of Chef Erik Young, contestants will put their skills to the test, crafting everything from delicate choux pastries to perfectly balanced quick breads.

With over 35 years of experience in the foodservice and hospitality industry, award-winning Hillsborough County chef and teacher Erik Young founded the VooDoo Chef Foundation in 2017, giving local high school students an opportunity to prove themselves through competitive cooking. Now, three seasons of The VooDoo Chef Underground Challenge are available to stream exclusively on RHStv.

The VooDoo Baking & Pastry Challenge brings even more excitement with two high-profile judges joining the panel; Chef Shay from Chez Shay Sweets, whose incredible talent has been showcased on the Food Network and The Cake Girl, also known as Chef Kristina Lavallee, a nationally recognized expert in cake artistry
